WFNS SPINE COMMITTEE CADAVER COURSE IN INDONESIA

On 12th and 13th July 2008 Prof. P. S. Ramani, Chairman, WFNS Spine Committee conducted a cadaver course at Airlanga University in Surabaya-Indonesia

Dr. Abdul Hafid Bajamal, a Committee Member and Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at the University was the local host. Dr. Motoi Shoda from Japan, Vice Chairman of the Spine Committee participated in the programme. Dr. K. Rajan from Madurai, India and several instructors from Indonesia helped Prof. Ramani to conduct the course.

The course was dedicated to the Cervical Spine and techniques like occipito-cervical fusion, C1-C2 fusion, lower cervical spine fusion, laminoplasty, anterior cervical arthoplasty, ACF, corpectomy, anterior reconstruction of the spine were demonstrated and practiced by the participants.

For instrumentation, GESCO Surgical Company from India was the major participant along with couple of local surgical companies.

Prof. Ramani has developed a set of Spinal Instruments. The catalog was released by Dr. Amin, Dean of Airlanga University and then Prof. Ramani and Mr. Oliver, Chairman of Gesco Surgical Company presented the first set to Dr. A. H. Bajamal of Neurosurgery at Airlanga University.
