WFNS Spine Committee Cadaver Course

Dr. P. S. Ramani held a cadaver course in Mumbai on 12th & 13th June 2010 for WFNS Spine Committee. It was held in the Anatomy Dept. of Grant Medical College and J. J. Hospital in Mumbai in Association with Dr. Vernon Velho, Associate Prof. of Neurosurgery in J. J. Hospital. Five stations were arranged and efforts were made to simulate Operation Theater on each station. Five operating tables were brought for the course. Lighting was done by theatre lamps. Microscopes, endoscopes, High speed drills, suction machines, C-arms, microinstruments and specific instrument sets for each operation was provided on each table. Nurses from operation theatre were present at each station arranging instruments from the trolleys.

The instructors came from USA, UK, Egypt, Turkey and India. There were supervisors on each table. The teacher first took a lecture and then demonstrated the technique which was relayed on 3 large screens for better understanding. Then the delegates were divided into batches on 5 stations.

(i) Dr C Kilincer, Dr P S Ramani, Dr Mohd Maziad, Dr Mehmet Zileli
(ii) Dr B A Kornah, Dr D Dominique, Dr P D Kulkarni, Dr S Patkar
(iii) Dr A Rege, Dr V Velho, Dr JKBC Parthiban, & Dr S Bhojraj were on the faculty and
(iv) Dr Shrikant Rege, Dr John Ebnezar, Dr Rakesh Gupta, Dr Batuk Diyora, Dr S Maheshwari, Dr A Figueiredo were instructors on the stations.
(v) Dr Alok Sharma, Prof. & Head of Neurosurgery, L T M G Hospital and Dr D A Palande, Prof & Head of Neurosurgery at J J Hospital, supervised the overall programme.
