WFNS WORKSHOP IN INDONESIA

Dr P S Ramani, Chairman-WFNS Spine Committee, along with Dr Sushil Patkar and Dr Hafid Bajamal conducted cadaveric workshop on the topic of Cervical Spine in Bandung, Indonesia. Dr Rully Dahlan, Neurosurgeon, organized an excellent lab with 8 cadavers and he was ably supported by the senior staff in the department namely Dr Benny Wurjomartani, Dr H Kahdar and Dr Arifin in the Dr Hasan Sadikin Govt. Hospital.

Four topics namely C1-C2 stabilization, subaxial lateral mass stabilization, ACDF and cervical microforaminotomy and microdiscectomy were selected. The workshop was conducted on 3rd December 2012 and 4th and 5th December were spent holding lectures, seminars and discussions on various topics of the spine.

Much to the delight of attending delegates and with a large number of senior neurosurgeons from Indonesia attending the program, the discussions were extremely lively and educative.

Dr Snehalata Deshmukh, renowned Pediatric Surgeon and former Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University was the chief guest on the occasion. She applauded the contribution made by Dr Ramani to the society, while practicing his profession. Her humour-filled speech was well received by the enthusiastic audience. Dr Nandakishore Laud, also a renowned Orthopedic surgeon from Mumbai spoke very highly of Dr Ramani, recalling his dedicated service to the medical field. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mr Eknath Thakur, Chairman, Saraswat Bank, his wife Anuradha Thakur, Shri Suresh Kare, Chairman of Indoco Remedies Ltd, Shri Mohandas Sukhthankar, noted artist, Shri Ramakrishna Naik, noted social worker and winner of 2012 Soman Puraskar, etc. Several organizations like Goa Hindu Association, Gomantak Seva Sangh, Daivadnya Bramhan Samaj, and Pharmaceutical Medical Representatives' Association, Thane-Virar Social Group, many doctors, people behind Granthali Publications, well wishers and his patients also attended the function. The Hall of Sane Guruji School, Dadar was overflowing and more than 100 attendees had to stand to attend the function.

Dr P S Ramani was felicitated by all the organizations but individuals were restrained due to lack of time.
