Prof Ramani delivers 2011-12 Prestigious Themis Institute of Chemical Technology Annual Oration

Dr Ramani was chosen by the deemed university Institute of Chemical Technology as Prestigious Themis Distinguished Fellow for the year 2011-12.

Dr Padma Devarajan, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology was in the chair along with Dr S P Kurani, Vice President - Scientific Affairs of Themis Pharmaceuticals, India (seen in the second photograph)

The audience constituted post graduate students in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. Dr Ramani held the audience spell bound for 1 hour and 10 minutes and talked at length as to how the medicine is transformed from being patient oriented to disease oriented leaving the patient to look after himself. Dr Ramani then gave useful suggestions to take care of oneself in this era of ever increasing longevity based on some of the principles used by Dhanvantari himself 3000 years ago. In the end Dr Ramani briefed on th echemistry scenario in India and urged the students to reach great heights in research and aim to win a Nobel prize.
