In the memory of his beloved mother, Dr Ramani set up the Ahilyabai Ramani Pratishthan, right in his ancestral house in Vadi-Talauli-Ponda-Goa where he himself had spent his childhood.
The Pratisthan's aim is to conduct programmes for personality development for the children of Goa. Currently it consists of a cultural centre and a library which was inaugurated on 3rd June, 2006

The free Reading Library for villages, established in the ancestral house of the Ramanis, has, to start with, approximately 5000 books in Marathi, Konkani, English, Portuguese.
The Library also has daily papers and weekly and monthly magazines. It will also have school books from 5th till 10th standard along with exam guides etc. |

The Pratishthan also plans to undertake various cultural, social and educational programmes.
It is proposed to hold several competitions in neighbourhood schools on various topics to make the library more vibrant and viable. Projects such as 'Young Scientist' and 'Sky Viewing' will be initiated to capture the fascination of the young minds of rural Goa.
