The research concepts in spine developed by Dr Ramani are :

• Existence of congenital narrow lumbar canal in a given population and
exaggeration of symptoms of sciatica & backpain in a given case of mild disc prolapse,

• Thickness of normal ligamentum flavum can vary from 4 to 10 mm and
its incurling can cause compression on the nerve root but there is no hypertrophy
in the true sense in the ligamentum flavum,

• Xenografts used for fusion procedures in the spine do not incorporate
but are maintained in position by a layer of fibrous tissue seen as Halo on X rays,

• Existence of dural tear in dorso lumbar injuries without neurological deficit,

• Establishment of Bone bank with grafts stored at room temperature,

• Assesment of rate of fusion in posterior lumbar interbody fusion
by doing serial post operative CT Scan at four months interval up to 2 years,

• Settlement of disc space following fusion in lumbar and cervical spine,

• Comparison of settlement of disc space following fusion,

• Comparison of osteosynthetic activity of auto and allografts,

• Pantopaque arachnoiditis,

• Evaluation of titanium cages in anterior cervical fusion

• He has evolved a set of exercises to keep spine and body healthy
