One or two candidates at a time are accepted for training. Basic knowledge and clinical practice in spinal surgery is essential. The prospective candidates are kept on the waiting list and called for training on the date fixed in advance. The period of training varies depending on the caliber of the candidate from 3 weeks to 6 months. Training is free, candidate has to arrange for his accomodation. The programme includes lectures & clinics, attending out patient departments, operative procedures, hands on practice, micro training, use of library, reading books, attending clinics and writing log book. Candidate is given a certificate of training. A candidate from the state of Goa, in India is selected every year & is offered a scholarship to come to Mumbai to get training in Spinal Surgery.
